Looking around, again for inspiration I found VandelayDesign blog. In a recent blog they had a post entitled “25 Incredibly Artistic Websites” The site discusses trends what works, and why, and the comments posted are most often by people who have a reasonable professional approach to design.
The whole approach to the blog was about sharing what works in design and why this might be so. It was not incredibly technical and had some great examples of website (and blog) design. It would be a great site to show visual arts students, for example, different creative styles. Styles under headings such as minimilist, colourful, dark, incredibly artistic, church, unique and innovative Flash have interesting examples and comments/discussion.
